A cephalometric study of Angle Class ¥±, division 2 malocclusion


Abstract
Cephalometric analysis u ;ing CETRAN was done to investigate the morphologic characteristics of Angle¢¥s classification Class L, division 2 malocclusion. The subjects were 58 Class I malocclusions and 75 Class II, division 2 malocclusions.
The following conclusions were obtained.
1. Class II, division 2 malocclusion group is not a specific stereotype and containing many variation.
2. The skeletal pattern of Class 11, division 2 malocclusion is small and have retruded mandible. The other measuring items related to skeletal pattern does not show significant difference.
3. Most of the typical clinical features are related to occlusal problems.
Those are severe linguoversion of upper incisors, large interincisal angle, linguoversion and retruded position of lower incisors.
4. The most efficient items for differential diagnosis of Class II, division 1 and Class II, division 2 are z-1 to SN and interincisal angle.
